Speed-Drag: Create a Character in an Afternoon

STRUT: Workshops for and by LGBTQIA+ Adults, Elders, (and Friends) presented by Rebus Theatre

Woden Library | Furzer Street &, Corinna St, Phillip ACT
Saturday 3rd May 2025
1.00pm to 4.30pm

There is a lot going on in the world at the moment, and the election is stressful.
To take our mind off things, we have created this event so we can be amongst community and take our mind of things for a few hours during election day.

For and by LGBTQIA+ Adults, Elders, (and Friends)

Curious about drag, but don't know where to start? Want to find a new drag character, or learn new performance skills?

Then this workshop is for you!

In this 4 hour workshop attendees will be introduced to the art of drag through a series of exercises suitable for all skill levels and abilities.

All drag is valid - all budding Drag Kings, Drag Queens, Hyper Kings, Hyper Queens, Drag Things and Drag Things welcome!

Find your inner Drag Legend and SLAY!

Any attendee who is keen is invited to perform their new skills in front of an audience of friends at a later workshop!

With special guest facilitator: Ravi Oli

Ravi Oli is an Indian Drag King who brings unapologetic flair, bold energy, and a whole lot of heart to the stage. With killer dance moves that demand attention and a smile that can light up the room, Ravi Oli is redefining the art of drag, blending tradition with modern expression.

He draws inspiration from the diverse world of Indian culture, pop icons, and the power of performance, he creates a space where masculinity is celebrated in all its forms—bold, dynamic, and uniquely their own with a touch of femininity. It's no longer about Drag for Ravi, it’s about joy, liberation, and self-expression as a Transman.
